The Soundwave Festival is a mammoth event for Billy Hyde Stage systems, with this years event hosting over 90 bands across 13 stages and 5 festivals dates (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaid and Perth) across Australia. For anyone who’s counting, that’s well over 460 performances in two weeks!
Billy Hydes Stage Systems coordinates the backline aspect of the Festival. This involves mountains of gear traveling from all over the country to, well, all over the country for every festival show and side shows happening between festival dates.
The backline team play a huge part in making this festival happen, amidst the hard work we saw a few wild things along the way. Amon Amarth, a viking metal band from Sweden, toured with them a viking boat, complete with glowing red eyes and the ability to breath haze. We also got to make friends with Gor Gor the Dinosaur, a member of the Gwar touring company, a band I can’t adequately explain, follow the link to read more. Some of the team even got up close and person with real life scaley critters, with snake handlers present side stage at the Brisbane show.
